What does the Summer Solstice mean for me personally?
Posted by Charlotte Nutland onThe longest day of the year arrives quietly. The Sun reaches its highest point in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere and slowly the days begin to get shorter.
Many seasons and markers on the calendar have a long build up and yet the Summer Solstice arrives without much notice and yet it can be a profound time for our personal and spiritual journey. A seasonal market to ask - where are you on your own journey?
The Summer Solstice is a subtle checkpoint, a moment to pause and notice. Gentler than January which feels full of intentions and resolutions. The Solstice is softer, a chance to ask ourselves 'how do things feel for me right now?' 'Am I in alignment?' 'Am I doing what I wanted to be doing?'
Have I accidentally, without any fault of my own veered off what matters?
Spiritually the Solstice is a time of reflection. A reminder that we are all part of the cycles of the earth, growing, changing and evolving. That nature ebbs and flows and changes.
Here are some good self check in's to ask yourself at this mid point
- Pause and celebrate how far you've come
- Enjoy the healing energy of the sun, a symbol of life force and power
- Release what is no longer serving you
- Set new intentions for the next part of the year
Here are some questions to ask yourself, if you have 10 minutes this morning sit by the window, with a note pad and pen and write this down.
-What has gone well for me over the past 6 months?
-What am I ready to let go of? (habits, beliefs, energy that no longer aligns)
-What can I do to bring in more light to the second half of the year? (dreams, ideas, hobbies, interests...)
-How can I align more deeply with joy? (think about where you feel great)
Enjoy your Sunday Solstice thoughts
