If you often feel tired, overwhelmed and stressed out despite the fact you're sleeping pretty well and flop on the sofa every night. It maybe your body telling you you're not resting enough.

Rest is often overlooked in our busy, hustle culture and is either seen as an annual spa day or something that is reserved only for the lazy and unproductive. However, Rest is absolutely essential to helping us restore and revive our mental health helping us to better cope with our busy, hectic calendars, the constant pressures on our time and the struggle for our attention (hello endless WhatsApp groups.) 

Resting is the opposite of being unproductive, its a necessity and when we rest we're more competent, focused and most importantly energised, positive and joyful. 

When we rest a physical process takes place within our body and brain. can have profound effects on our overall health. It can help repair our body, calm our brain, and restore our energy. When we rest, our body undertakes repair processes essential for physical health. And our mind gets a chance to process experiences, consolidate memories, and rejuvenate cognitive functions.

Sometimes taking time to rest can seem unproductive or even lazy. But it’s vital to remember that rest isn’t a luxury, it's a necessity. By embracing rest, we’re avoiding the harmful effects of burnout, and we're actively enhancing our ability to think clearly, manage emotions, and enjoy life.

It’s important to look out for the signs that our bodies and minds are asking for a break, and respond to ourselves with kindness—it's crucial for our wellbeing.
