Feeling tired? You're not alone.
Posted by Charlotte Nutland onLots of visits to The Studio this week has included conversations around being really tired. Feeling exhausted and not getting a good work/life/home balance. If you feel guilty about resting its really important to try and reframe this and address your relationship to rest. Energy is needed to do pretty much everything from the basics of rationalising anxious thoughts to laughing and enjoying watching something you normally enjoy on television.
Being open to rest and relaxation is really important. Knowing that if we're feeling tired we do need to lean into that feeling a little and take more rest and time out. Whatever that looks like.
In addition, ensuring you're covering all your usual basics of eating well (plenty of fibre and protein) in every meal, ensuring you really don't skip meals (not great for hormones) and are looking at your monthly supplementations as we head into Autumn.
Getting out for a midday walk where possible and ensuring your connections are kept up over Autumn with loved ones when it can be easy to hibernate, a few social occasions a month to have on the calendar are really beneficial. This can be friends popping round in their pyjamas to get a takeaway and watch Strictly. We're not fussy.
Here are the blends that we recommend for incorporating into your day if you need a boost of natural energy and a big reminder to rest to get you through the day.
We believe a good dose of energy when you wake up all starts the night before. Getting a perfect nights sleep is the key to feeling well. Creating a routine takes effort and practice and we usually say give any new routine 4-6 weeks before you notice the difference.
A few blends we really recommend including in your wind down routine are The Peace Bathing Salts, infused with therapeutic salts and healing essential oils of tranquil Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Rose Geranium, Lavender and Bergamot.
Warming your body through a bath an hour or two before bedtime may help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. A higher body temperature signals our sleep cycle, allowing our body core temperature to drop. This process of temperature regulation is important to stay asleep, as it is during this time that the body’s sleep hormone, melatonin, circulates in higher concentrations. Ensure not to have the bath too warm as this can make you too hot before bed.
Layer your routine with The Peace Atmosphere and Linen Mist, spritz a generous few pumps into your bedroom space before sleep and apply The Peace Rollerballs to the sides of your neck and breath deeply. Read a new book, we love Good Reads for recommendations.
Upon waking, hop into a shower with The Tonic All over Hand and Body Cleanser. Infused with naturally uplifting essential oils of Lemongrass, Lemon, Ginger and Orange this blend will help you feel good to go and more positive about the day ahead.
We recommend taking time throughout the day to notice how you feel. Ensure you're drinking enough water, herbal teas and don't take any caffeine after lunch time. Lighting a candle as you work or do household chores can be a beautiful way of acknowledging how you feel and letting the warm and inviting aroma of essential oils keep you calm and comforted. We love The Remedy Candle at the moment to help with clearing a head and allowing you to think more clearly.
If you're on the go and just need a boost of confidence, energy and focus pop on a few circles of The Self Rollerball to the sides of your beck with Neroli, Green Mandarin and Cedarwood its full of energy and determination. Really great for popping on before a meeting or doing something where you just need to feel like your best self.
If you've had a really busy full on day, create a really beautiful evening for yourself. Cook something nice, light, warming and nourishing and pop on The Quiet Purest Blend into your Aroma Diffuser and do whatever makes you feel good.
