Its no secret we love York. Its one of those cities, like many, where they're at their absolute best early morning and in the early evening when the crowds have died down and the locals come out. Aside from its historic appeal, York has a special magic and charm as you wander slowly from different areas and streets, the sounds of live music, scents of food, and nostalgia evolves slowly as your wander through cobbled nooks and tiny ally ways. 

If you wanted to enjoy York in just a few hours here's a lovely morning plan

Park near the Terrys Factory (you can find free off street parking) and wander down the River crossing over at The Millennium Bridge, at Skeldergate Bridge head through Tower Gardens, past Clifford Tower and head to Kiosk Coffee on Fossgate for delicious Flat Whites. Get a takeaway then potter along this beautifully pedestrian street to Goodramgate to Little Arras Bakery. Pick up a few incredible pastries and then potter to Museum Gardens to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and nibbles. Head to Toppings Bookshop a 5 minute walk away and spend hours in this 3 story, stunning new bookshop and marvel at their gorgeous wooden shelves. 

If you're staying for lunch we adore either Los Moros for North African Food or Thai Tian for fresh, authentic flavours in a low key cafe. 

When you're ready to head home, head to Terry Avenue and follow this beautiful River Path, passed Rowntree's Park which is worth a stop if you have children and back to your parking spot.
